Easy Rest FAQ

How do adjustable bed frames work?

Our adjustable base is made of a steel frame strong enough to support the mattress and user.

The base features a segmented construction to allow the head and foot to operate independently. All of our bases allow the head to be raised 56 degrees and the leg to be raised 54 degrees. A wood platform is installed on top of the steel frame and the lift and massage motors are attached underneath as well as the power source to operate the bed electrically. Layers of high quality natural fiber pads and mattress ticking are placed over the wood panels. Remote controls offer smooth operation with our Whisper Power™ motors. When the bed is placed in the flat position it looks like a traditional flat bed.

Do you need a special mattress for an adjustable bed?

This is a question we see all the time. People constantly want to know if you can use an adjustable base with any mattress. An adjustable bed mattress is made to specific technical requirements that allow it to be bent into adjusted positions thousands of times in it’s lifetime. Traditional flat mattresses are constructed differently and are not made to be flexible for the many positions an adjustable base can achieve. Using a traditional flat mattress on an adjustable base will cause it to break down quickly and become uncomfortable and potentially cause the user pain and poor sleep. The best adjustable mattress for an electric bed is one that is made specifically to be used with an adjustable base.

What sizes do adjustable beds come in?

Adjustable beds come in all the standard sizes – Twin, Full, Queen and King and several specialty sizes in between – Twin XL, Dual King, Split Head Queen and Split Head King.

What are the health benefits of adjustable beds?

Is it good to sleep with your head elevated?

Yes, there are many reasons why sleeping with your head elevated is helpful and we hear from customers every day about how raising the head of the bed when sleeping has helped them for many different health problems.

One of the most common reasons for sleeping with the head elevated is to help find temporary relief from the symptoms of acid reflux and nighttime heartburn. There’s nothing worse that that burning feeling in your chest when you are lying flat or the painful wash of acid reflux from your stomach up into your throat in the middle of the night. Letting gravity play a hand in alleviating those problems is very helpful for many people.

Low back pain can also be temporarily alleviated by raising the head and/or foot of the bed to find the right position to take the pressure off of the painful area and allow you to fall asleep with less pain.

Many people also report that raising the head of the bed helps alleviate their mild snoring issues.

Is it good to sleep with your legs elevated?

Yes, there are benefits of sleeping with your feet elevated. The most common reason is to combat the effects of edema. Edema means swelling caused by fluid in your body’s tissues. In most cases it occurs in the feet, ankles and legs. The most common recommendation medical professionals make is to raise your legs to allow the fluid to circulate out of the legs and into the rest of your body.

Resting or sleeping in an adjustable bed makes it easy to raise your legs and find a therapeutic position that might temporarily relieve your painful symptoms or reduce the unattractive look of swollen legs and ankles.

What is the best bed for lower back pain?

An adjustable bed is an ideal mattress for back pain. When you suffer from back pain during the night it is hard to fall asleep and get the rest you need because you can’t find relief from the pain. An adjustable bed allows you to find the perfect position that may help temporarily alleviate low back pain. Sleeping with your head and feet raised can help take the pressure off of the painful area allowing you to get that much needed sleep to help the healing process. An adjustable bed is good for your back.

What is the best mattress for arthritis sufferers?

An adjustable bed that offers an optional heat feature is the ideal bed for an arthritis sufferer. This feature may provide temporary relief from mild arthritis and joint pain. Warming body tissues with heat may ease arthritis pain by increasing blood flow to affected areas. This can help decrease inflammation, relax tight muscles, and eliminate waste products such as lactic acid, which causes stiffness and soreness.

An adjustable bed that allows you to change positions easily and frequently, combined with restorative heat applications, may minimize or temporarily eliminate pain associated with arthritis.

Where can I donate a used mattress?

Unfortunately, because of health department laws across the country it is almost impossible to donate a used mattress even if it is in excellent condition. The best option is to ask family or friends if they are interested in your old mattress or know of anyone who could use it.

When you purchase an adjustable base and an adjustable bed mattress from Easy Rest we’ll take your old flat mattress away as a convenience and recycle it.
