Similar Name of Recalled Product Causes Confusion in Bedding Industry

Baltimore, Maryland – January 14, 2013 –Two companies with similar sounding names but vastly different manufacturing standards are being confused in the marketplace after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of mattresses sold by Easy-Rest Inc. of Portland, Oregon. Executives with Easy Rest Adjustable Sleep Systems in Baltimore, Maryland want the public to know that their complete line of adjustable beds and adjustable mattresses are not part of the recall and meet all federal regulations for flame retardancy.

“There has been some confusion when customers search the Internet for our product and find the recall notice from the CPSC,” stated Ann Mowrey, Public Relations Director for Easy Rest Adjustable Sleep Systems. “We want to assure the public that every one of our adjustable beds and adjustable mattresses meet all federal open flame standards and we are not associated in any way with Easy-Rest Inc. of Portland, Oregon.”

The Oregon mattress company sold very low priced, all foam mattresses designed to be used with traditional flat beds in 10 states between September 2011 through September 2012 that failed to meet the mandatory federal open flame standard for mattresses. The mattresses made by the company were imported from China.
